These are very smart animals and people always under estimate them. Trap him and relocate him 10 miles away.

You might trying putting steel wool where he is chewing through. I know this works with mice. I would think it would work with squirrels, too. They don't like the steel wool in their mouth so they won't gnaw.

Try moth balls. I use those to keep the squirrels out of my flowerpots. They don't seem to like the smell. Put them in the foot of an old sock or pantyhose and hang them all around where the critters are congregating.

You might, ultimately, have to call a pest professional to get rid of them for good.
I watched a special on squirrels once and someone had the same problem, he tried everything! Then his wife brought home a small dog and they disappeared!
Squirrels are smart %26amp; sneaky. Before you have to resort to more drastic measures, try scattering mothballs or flakes in %26amp; around the areas they infest. They hate the smell. I use this method in the garden to keep squirrels %26amp; rabbits away from sensitive areas. Also try sprinkling HOT pepper around possible entrance points. Relatively cheap, safe, easy, %26amp; I hope sucessful. Good luck!
I build homes, and I had to return to one almost weekly to replace the vinyl siding where little reds were chewing through to gain entrance into the attic. After the third time, I finally stopped them by putting sheet metal behind the siding in that spot, but they still would chew through the siding till they hit the metal.

The homeowner was a nature loving FREAK, and she finally asked if there was any way to ';KILL the S.O.B.'s';. I set traps in the attic where they were frequenting, and while crawling around up there discovered they were starting a nest, which would mean more squirrels. I came and reset the 3 traps every day, and after about a week and a half, and a death toll of 11, there were no more squirrels around [except the much less destructive grey squirrels, which we left alone].

Nature freak lady has a new understanding when it comes to rodents and the damage they do. She went out and bought a few traps for herself, and asked me to teach her how to set them [these are not little wooden mouse traps, but steel body gripper killer traps], in case the critters come back in the future.

Only sure fire way is to eliminate ways to get up onto your roof/deck/awnings. This means cutting any trees down within 20 ft of the house, and no clothes lines, overhead power lines, etc. Easier to just humanely kill them.
if i were you, i would be super pissed off too. Call the council. Put some bait on the roof. Yeah call the council though, they might be able to point you in the right direction. You could have a lot of fun with a paintball gun?
